Sad news for Dubai’s nightlife scene as hugely popular bar and restaurant Q43 has closed its doors for the last time.

Perched on the top floor of the Media One Tower in Dubai Media City, Q43 quickly became one of the city’s go-to spots when it opened seven years ago. At its peak, the bar and restaurant was packed every night of the week.

You could either come for an after-work drink and admire the views from the top of the tower or take part in a pool tournament. And the food was legendary, including their steak night every Monday.

But due to the Coronavirus pandemic and the resulting economic disruption, the company behind Q43 have had to pull the plug.

Staying in the nightlife world, we had been looking forward to the launch of O Beach Club in Dubai later this year. But the Ibiza brand known for its beach and pool parties has put the launch date back until Autumn 2021.

Dubai Rugby Sevens cancelled

We might as well dump all our bad party news in one post as it’s recently been announced that this year’s Dubai Rugby Sevens has been cancelled.

The news was announced by World Rugby organisers who have decided to cancel the opening two dates of the season due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic.

The Dubai Rugby Sevens is a huge sporting and entertainment date and one that attracts thousands each year. It was due to take place in November with the best teams from around the world competing across three days. The other affected event is the Cape Town Sevens.
