Construction of the iconic Titanic cruise ship replica is in the works and will make its debut voyage in 2022 from Dubai, according to Cruise Arabia Online.
Replica scheduled to cruise from Dubai
Blue Star Line, the company behind the Titanic remake, announced the $500 million(Dhs1.8b) project in 2012. The project was slated for a 2018 launch but has now been pushed until 2022. The ship will offer a two-week maiden voyage from Dubai to Southampton, followed by weekly cruises between the UK and US.
Complete replica of Titanic
Nothing will change, besides the addition of modern safety features. The life-sized replica boasts nine decks and 840 staterooms, capable of accommodating 2,400 passengers and 900 crew members. Tickets will be categorized in the same way as the original, with first, second and third class. What’s more, cruise-goers can enjoy onboard facilities, such as swimming pool, gymnasium and Turkish bath.
Luxury with “authentic Titanic experience”
Cruise goers will set off on a journey revisiting the iconic ship’s attractions and features. Clive Palmer, Chairman of Blue Star Line, said “Blue Star Line will create an authentic Titanic experience, providing passengers with a ship that has the same interiors and cabin layout as the original vessel, while integrating modern safety procedures, navigation methods and 21st century technology to produce the highest level of luxurious comfort.”
Voyage across the world
Besides the UK-USA route, the remake model will “also circumnavigate the globe,” attracting worldwide attention. “The ship will follow the original journey, carrying passengers from Southampton to New York, but she will also circumnavigate the globe, inspiring and enchanting people while attracting unrivaled attention, intrigue and mystery in every port she visits,” Palmer said.
