Live events and bars return to Dubai for vaccinated as city relaxes Covid rules

Dubai has announced a series of updates including a return to live events as the city looks to bounce back after the pandemic.

Bars can officially re-open while indoor events can now operate with up to 1,500 people. Outdoor events, meanwhile, can hold up to 2,500 under the new rules.

Entertainment venues can now operate at 70% of their capacity. And hotels can now run at full capacity.

Alongside that, permits will now be given to live events including concerts and sport across Dubai.

And there’s good news for weddings as maximum capacity has been lifted to 100 people.

All of these new rules, however, are only available for those who have been vaccinated. Spectators, guests, all staff and participants have to prove they’ve had the vaccine via the Dubai Health Authority app.

The news was announced via Twitter by Dubai’s Supreme Committee of Crisis and Disaster Management.

The new rules are being run on a trial basis for a month starting from today.

Other rules being relaxed are that 10 people can sit to a table in restaurants while six can sit together in coffee shops.

Two rules that remain are that all residents need to observe social distancing of 2m. And wearing face masks continues to be ‘mandatory.’

There’s more good news for UAE residents as well. The UAE and Greece have set up a travel corridor meaning you can now get away for a quarantine-free holiday!
