Dubai Police received thousands of calls and enquiries during the first 24-hour restrictions, including one man asking if he needed a permit to go between the houses of his two wives.
We all know we need a permit to leave the house, but this caller raises a good point. If you have two wives. Who live in separate houses.
The call was answered by a senior Dubai Police official, Brigadier Saif Muhair Al Mazroui, director of the Traffic Department.
It was at this point we’d have got pretty nervous, but no, the caller still pushed on with his question…
“I’m married to two women,” said the caller. “Should I get a permit when I move from house to house?”
‘Not getting the permit would be a good excuse not to see his other wife if he doesn’t want to be with her.’
Marriage advise and the answer, bravo. And yes, you need a permit to visit both wives.
“I received many questions like this one,” said Al Mazroui. “The permit is only for one time and people need to apply for a permit whenever they leave their homes for necessary matters,” he added. And having two wives is definitely a necessary matter, we’ve learned.
Getting a permit
Al Mazroui also clarified the aims of travel permits in Dubai.
“It’s not logical to give someone a weekly permit to buy essentials as we are aiming to reduce movement on the roads,” he said.
“Areas which used to take one week to be completely sterilised, can be done within one day now, and that will speed the return to our daily lives,” he added.
“Individuals are not allowed to leave the house except for essential purposes. Or if they are working in vital sectors during the national sterilisation programme.”
