One man got waaaay more exercise than he wanted after he was chased by a mountain lion after heading out for a morning jog.
The dramatic action happened in Utah when Kyle Burgess went jogging on his regular mountain path and came across a rather angry mountain lion.
As it turns out, it was a mama mountain lion protecting her young cubs. And her instincts kicked in as she stalked and chased Kyle until he was no longer a threat to her cubs.
“I found what I thought were bobcats on the trail during a run,” says Kyle. “Turns out they were cougar cubs and their mother was not happy to see me. She escorted me for over six minutes to get me away from her cubs. Although she was acting very aggressive, the cougar had no intent on hurting me.
If she wanted to take me down, she totally could have. The mother cougar was most likely caught off guard and did what she had to do to protect her cubs. Mama, cubs, and I are safe.”
To add to the drama, rescuers had to climb up to the top of the crane after the crane’s electric lift broke down. Thankfully technicians were able to repair it by the time paramedics reached the man. The police then had to join together and lift the man to safety and into a waiting ambulance.
