New radars in Dubai can now catch motorists not wearing seatbelts and those using their mobile phones.
Which we think is great news and about time too!
“The radar will reduce traffic offences and ensure the safety of road users across the city. The new smart devices will be installed on different roads and highways to detect drivers’ behaviour who are not committed to driving safely,” said Brigadier Saif Muhair Al Mazroui, Director of Traffic Department at Dubai Police.
The new Dubai radars will use AI to detect any ‘violations or wrong behaviours’ and can be programmed to detect specific issues.
The radar is then hooked up via 4G to the police network where it will be added to their ‘violations processing platform’.
In other words, get caught using your phone or not wearing a seatbelt, and it’ll go through to the fines department.
“Many road users can be victims of other drivers’ mistakes. Some drivers don’t understand the danger of some offences, thinking its minor offences. Such offences can result in tragic accidents for innocent people,” Brig Al Mazroui said.
Or, you could just ditch the car and wait for these amazing Sky Pods to arrive in Dubai!
