New self-drive safari launches at Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve

A brand new self-drive safari is launching at the Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve where you can hang out with gazelles, foxes, monitor lizards and Arabian Oryx.

The self-driving adventure takes place in a specially engineered Toyota Hilux Adventure 4×4. And you’ll have an expert instructor and wildlife expert on hand to guide you through the reserve.

The self-drive safari starts with a briefing on how to drive around the reserve and which animals to look out for. They’ll also tell you how to work the hand-held radios so you can call for help or advice.

The 75-minute drive will let you get up close with the native animals and plants including gazelles and the Arabian Oryx. And once you’re finished, it’s over to the campsite for snacks and drinks while watching the sunset.

Which sounds pretty much like the ideal day to us!

The safari is the first of its kind in the region and can be booked during weekdays. You’ll need an international driver’s license. And each car can hold up to four people.
