Eight lanes have been built on the Sheikh Rashid Road making it easier for motorists to drive between Bur Dubai and Karama, which is set to open on May 3rd.
Each direction will have four lanes
During the construction of this project, two lanes were allotted for taking a U-turn and a left while two lanes were alloted for continuing straight on the road and for taking a right exit. The new tunnel will help motorists continue on the road without stopping at any signal, making it easier to reach areas like Za’abeel, Al Ghubaiba, Oud Metha, Al Mankhool, Al Satwa, Hudaiba, Jadaf and Dubai Healthcare City.

Completion of the tunnel marks RTA’s improvement project
Earlier this year, RTA(Road and Transport Authority) had opened a four-lane flyover connecting Karama and Za’abeel to reduce congestion on the Sheikh Rashid Road signal, informally known as the ‘Sana Signal.’ The completion of the flyover and the tunnel will mark the completion of RTA’s Shaikh Rashid and Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Streets Intersection Project.
RTA recently opened three bridges to access Dubai Airports
Several roads and bridges were developed this year to ease congestion and reduce travelling time for motorists. On Friday 27th April, RTA opened three bridges connecting the Airport Street to Casablanca Street, Nad Al Hammar street and a bridge leading to Dubai Aviation Engineering Projects.
