Sunday: 9th December: ‘Searching for Ingmar Bergman’ film screening at Cinema Akil
Indie-theatre hub Cinema Akil is screening ‘Searching for Ingmar Bergman’ this Sunday. The documentary pays homage to legendary Swedish filmmaker, Ingmar Bergman and the legacy he leaves on cinema of the ‘50s and ‘60s. The documentary was released this year to honour the late director’s centennial anniversary. Screening begins at 9:30 pm. Tickets cost Dhs 56.50.
Monday, 10th December: Hip-Hop with Frank at Toy Room Dubai
Anyone who’s familiar with Dubai’s clubbing scene knows what a wild experience it is at Toy Room Dubai. Their weekly club night, Hip-Hop With Frank has an open music policy and the party is pumpin’ till 4 am. Not to mention, you can party with their naughty party animal, Frank and his friends.
Tuesday, 11th-Saturday, 15th December: Al Marmoom Ultramarathon
It’s no walk in the park. The Al Marmoom Ultramarathon boasts itself as “the world’s longest desert run.” offering participants a choice between running distances of 50, 100 and 270 kms. The marathon runs four days and winners will be rewarded handsomely, with cash prizes ranging between Dhs 3,670 to Dhs 22,000. Head to their website for full details.
Starting this Wednesday, Dubai CrossFit Championships will kick off its four day event, showcasing high-octane CrossFit action from some of the biggest names in the sport. It’s the first sanctioned event, giving the first place male, female and team competitors a qualification to the 2019 games in Madison, Wisconsin. You can watch the sporting action live at Dubai Duty Free Tennis Stadium on day four and five. Tickets are priced between Dhs 30-50. Friday, 14th December: Jason Derulo live at Global Village
It doesn’t matter how many times he’s performed in Dubai, Jason Derulo belting out songs like “Ridin’ Solo”or “Talk Dirty” never gets old. There’s no denying he’s one of the biggest names in R&B and Pop music this year, delivering hits like “Colours,” “Goodbye” and “Make Up.” Catch the musical sensation perform a free concert at Global Village this Friday. Friday, 14th December: Enrique Iglesias live At The Pointe
When most people think Latin Pop, Enrique Iglesias is undeniably the first artist they would place in their mind. That’s the legacy he has within the genre, with tracks like “Bailamos,” “Subeme La Radio,” “Juan Lusi Guerra” and “Loco.” The 43-year-old Latin icon is no stranger to the mainstream either, with hit singles “I Like It,” “Tonight I’m Lovin’ You” and “Dirty Dancer.” Tickets for the gigcosts Dhs150, out of which Dhs115 can be redeemed from the venue’s dining outlets. Saturday, 15th September: Pusha T live at Bade Dubai
Things have got pretty much out of hand for Pusha T and his feudwith Drake this year. Yet, that didn’t stop him from releasing hits like “Infrared,” “The Games We Play” and “If You Know You Know,” which broke into the mainstream charts this year.
