Middle East Film & Comic Con

When: Thursday, 11th-Saturday, 15th April   

Where: Dubai World Trade Centre

About: Superheroes and superfans, assemble! For the next three days, our city is gon’ be all about films, comics, cosplaying, anime and all things pop culture, with the highly-anticipated Middle East Film & Comic Con in town. The pop culture event doesn’t only unite fans and cosplayers, but features talks by some of the coolest comic book creators and voice actors, and the chance to hang out with a slew of A-list actors including Zachary Levi from Shazam!, Benedict Wong from Avengers: Endgame, Ross Marquand from The Walking Dead and many more. French Montana live

When: Thursday, 11th April

About: Check any ranking of the best rappers in the scene this year, and you’re likely to see French Montana. The American-Moroccan rapper belongs to have a niche group of immigrant rappers who’ve established their name in the rap game. He burst on the scene in the mid-‘00s dropping mixtapes and collaborations with East Coast rappers, until he inked a deal with Epic Records, which paved the way for chart-topping club bangers like “Unforgettable,” “No Stylist,” “Famous,” “Excuse That,” “Welcome To The Party” and the mega-smash hit, “All The Way Up,” which bagged a Grammy nomination for the “Best Rap Performance.” For table reservations, call 052 388 8857.

Busta Rhymes live

About: US hip-hop legend Busta Rhymes is about to make a return to our city for a high-energy performance tonight. Andrea Oliva live

Where: Cafe Mambo, Soho Garden  

About: If underground and electro are what you’re longing for, then head to Cafe Mambo for a live set by electronic maestro Andrea Oliva. The Swiss producer has been at the forefront of dance music in the circuit, with residences at Ibiza clubs and festival slots since his teenage. His career took off to a whole new level after establishing himself as a regular in the underground party brand, ANTS, and having performed at popular EDM festivals like Creamfields and Tomorrowland. Boyzone live

Where: Dubai Duty Free Tennis Stadium  

About: Irish boy band legends Boyzone are touring together for one last time and Dubai is among the stops in their farewell tour. If you grew up listening to Ronan Keating and his crew, you wouldn’t want to miss this special gig. The pop group have been a mainstay on the scene for about 25 years, scoring six UK Number Ones and sold over 25 million records, delivering hits like “Picture of You,” “Love Me For A Reason,” “Gave It All The Way” and “No Matter What.” Tickets are priced from Dhs 195.

One Big Beach Festival

When: Friday, 12th April   

Where: Zero Gravity   

About: Dance-pop hit collective Clean Bandit are lined up for performing at Zero Gravity’s One Big Beach Festival, alongside Drum And Bass maestros Sigma, Cape Town’s dance music giants Goldfish, Lovely Laura and Ben Santiago, and a huge line-up of homegrown talents.
