Palm West Beach to open in Dubai this week

Dubai’s latest beach district, Palm West Beach, is to open this week with plenty of new bars, restaurants, shops and more.

The area stretches for 1.6km along the beachfront of the Palm and looks stunning.

As well as dozens of new bars and restaurants, Palm West Beach will also have 300 palm trees lit up at night. Making it perfect for runners and walkers. And, as the promenade and beach-front is also pet-friendly, it’s the perfect place to come and walk your dog.

Confirmed bars and restaurants opening include Koko Bay, Jones The Grocer, Lucky Fish and Orange Chameleon.

The area will also have eight hotels when it’s completed including Five Palm Jumeirah, Byblos, One Palm and Hilton Palm Jumeirah.

There will be plenty of sporting fun too as you’ll be able to hire kayaks, sea bikes, catamarans and hydrofoils.

The world’s largest fountains

Dubai is set to break another world record when the world’s largest fountain open on Dubai’s Palm Jumeirah later this month.

The Pointe’s Palm Fountains open on October 22nd and claim to be the world’s tallest fountain. At their peak, the fountains will shoot water more than 100m into the air. And yes, they’ll be even larger than the Dubai Mall fountains, which were previously the biggest.

The fountain show will run from 7 pm every 30 minutes. And each 20-minute show will be set to a spectacular LED light and sound show.

The team behind the fountain will officially try to break the record on their launch night.

The fountains are located at the far end of the Palm Jumeirah trunk and overlook the Atlantis. You can see the fountains from The Pointe’s walkways or from one of the restaurants overlooking them.

As you’d imagine, the launch night will be a big event with live entertainment, fireworks and free LED wristbands.

If you want to secure your spot, you can register for the event here. The event runs from 4 pm until midnight.
