Pope Francis Scheduled To Visit Abu Dhabi This February

His Holiness Pope Francis will be visiting the United Arab Emirates, from 3rd– 5th February 2019.

Landmark visit for Pope Francis

Pope Francis will be arriving in Abu Dhabi to attend an interfaith meeting, which goes by the theme “Make Me a Channel of Your Peace.” It will be a landmark trip, marking his first pastoral visit to the Arabian Peninsula. The meeting will seek dialogue about “how all people of goodwill can work for peace.”

Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed invites Pope to Abu Dhabi

Pope Francis’ visit to the UAE comes in response to an invitation by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and the Catholic Church in UAE. The Crown Prince said, “The UAE is delighted to welcome His Holiness Pope Francis on the upcoming visit to the UAE. He is a symbol of peace, tolerance and the promotion of brotherhood. We look forward to a historic visit, through which we will seek dialogue on the peaceful coexistence among peoples.”

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum welcomes Pope Francis

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Ruler of Dubai, Prime Minister and Vice President of UAE, welcomed Pope Francis, saying “We welcome the news of Pope Francis’ visit to the United Arab Emirates next February – a visit that will strengthen our ties and understanding of each other, enhance interfaith dialogue and help us to work together to maintain and build peace among the nations of the world.”
