Employees, rejoice! Workers in the UAE’s public and private sectors are likely to enjoy a four-day break this Eid Al Fitr.
Four-day break for Eid Al Fitr
There’s a possibility that the Eid Al Fitr holidays this year, will go on for four days; everyone could be on an Eid break from Wednesday, 5th June until Saturday, 8th June. The start of the break, of course, will depend on the phase of the moon.

Equal holidays for UAE’s public and private sector
Earlier this year, the UAE Cabinet approved equal holidays for both the public and private sectors until 2021. With the number of holidays made equal, UAE employees enjoy a total of 14 holidays every year. After Eid Al Fitr, employees will have a four-day break during Eid Al Adha and Arafat Day (9th-12th August), one day each off for Hijri Islamic New Year (1st September) and the UAE Commemoration Day (1st December) and two days off for the 48th UAE National Day (2nd-3rd December).
Three long weekends this year
This year will see three long public holidays: Eid Al Fitr, Eid Al Adha and the UAE National Day weekend.
