Good news football addicts – the English Premier League is to resume on Wednesday, June 17 with two matches.
The first two matches to resume the season will be Aston Villa v Sheffield United and Manchester City v Arsenal.
A full fixture list will then be played across the weekend of June 19-21. The news is still to be officially confirmed, but the schedule has been agreed in principle by all the teams. And let’s be honest, we’ve all missed our dose of the EPL.
Break in the season
The Premier League was officially suspended on March 13 due to the Coronavirus pandemic. And it will be 100 days from the last game played until the resumption.
There are 92 Premier League games still to play, with all games to take place behind closed doors.
The clubs have now all resumed training including contact training. Meanwhile, 12 players and staff have tested positive for the Coronavirus after 2,752 tests were conducted.
Liverpool are firm favourites to take the title and are 25 points clear. And it’s also good news for the million of Fantasy Football fans out there where the competition is a lot closer!
