Latest footage from the site shows its three thematic districts; Sustainability, Mobility and Opportunity along with pavilions for participating countries, plazas, domes and their dedicated metro station, Route 2020 taking shape as the development “quickens every day.” The Expo 2020 team says “The heart of Expo 2020 Dubai is coming to life. Our video showcases this month’s bird’s eye footage of the latest progress on site and how the theme districts are all emerging to deliver Expo 2020 to the world.”

Construction expected to be completed within a year

Construction at the Expo 2020 site is expected to be completed within a year and the following year will be for testing and trials, according to the team from House of Volunteers. What’s more, once Expo 2020 ends in May 2021, 80% of the buildings will be used for residential and commercial purposes.

Residents can be part of Expo 2020 too

More than 22,000 volunteering jobs are open for residents including students, working professionals, retirees, homemakers and people of determination. The Expo 2020 team launched ‘House of Volunteers’ this week, a dedicated hub for volunteerism and humanitarianism giving residents the opportunity to be the part of the “momentous global celebration” and help deliver “an exceptional visitor experience for millions of people.”

Her Excellency Reem Al Hashimy, UAE Minister of State for International Cooperation and Director General, Dubai Expo 2020 Bureau launched ‘House of Volunteers,’ saying the dedicated hub will help in “engaging people from all segments of society” and bring Expo 2020’s theme to life. “By engaging people from all segments of society, the Expo 2020 Volunteers team is capitalizing on the diversity of the UAE – a country that is home to more than 200 nationalities. With the House of Volunteers, our rapidly growing family now has a physical space in which to bring to life Expo’s theme of ‘Connecting Minds, Creating the Future’,” she said.
