Public Sector Employees In The UAE Must Get PCR Tests Every 14 Days

From the 17th of January, there are some new rules for employees working in the federal departments and ministries.

All federal departments and ministries employees will now have to do a PCR test every 14 days at their own expense, according to a new circular.

New Circular Effective 17th January 2021

The Federal Authority for Government Human Resources issued a circular to all federal ministries and entities which issues new COVID-19 measures.

The purpose of the circular is to address the pandemic at the level of the federal government, reduce its repercussions, and also safeguard the health of employees.

All federal authorities have been urged to take several COVID-19 measures, concerning their employees, employees of outsourcing and public services companies, as well as employees of consulting services and contracted parties.

All employees of ministries and federal departments must get a negative PCR test every 14 days at the employee’s own expense, according to the circular.

Employees who have taken the COVID-19 vaccine are however exempted. Those who have obtained a report or a medical certificate indicating that they cannot receive the “COVID-19” vaccine due to their health or illness condition are also exempted but this will only be allowed if  the federal government entity undertakes to conduct a PCR test for them every 14 days.

Encourage Employees To Get The Vaccine

The Federal Authority for Government Human Resources has also urged all ministries and federal authorities to encourage their employees and workers to go for the vaccine. Reference was made to the fact that the COVID-19 vaccine is available free of charge at various places across the UAE.

The vaccine can be administered at all health centers affiliated with the ministry across all emirates, health centers belonging to the Department of Health in Abu Dhabi, as well as a number of private hospitals.
