Dubai’s Public Prosecution has put a resident on trial for posing as a cop and kidnapping a woman in Rashidiya last January, according to Khaleej Times.
Dubai resident faked he’s a cop
Records from the public prosecution show the 30-year old resident from Comoros Islands posed as a officer of the law. He attempted to kidnap a 24-year old Filipino woman, convincing her that he’s from the police force and she has to ride in his car. When the woman denied entering his vehicle, the imposter almost pushed her inside his car. A witness saw the commotion and reported the police.
Victim hurt by scratches from the imposter
When the case was presented at the Dubai Court of First Instance, the victim presented a medical certificate showing she suffered scratches. The victim explained the series of events before the kidnap started when she was going to take an image of the car number plate to report to Dubai Police. She said “As I was about to click a picture of his number plate, he tried to snatch my mobile phone. He pushed me, causing scratches on my body.”
Fake cop to face trial for kidnap
During interrogation, the imposter admitted his wrongdoings. The Dubai Court of First Instance heard he showed his drivers’ license to prove he’s a member of the police force and escaped from the scene when a witness approached towards his car. A final ruling by the court will be announced next month, on 15th November.
