UAE based billionaire and owner of Lulu’s hypermarket, Yusuff Ali M.A showed his support for victims of the terrible flooding currently happening in his home state of Kerala. Yusuff, one of the Middle East’s richest men, donated Dh 3.56 million in aid of those affected.
Death toll now at 37
With the latest count showing 37 lives lost and more than 36,000 left homeless, the money will no doubt be a huge help to the state which is in dire need of aid.
Chief Minister of Kerala, Pinarayi Vijayan released a heartfelt plea last week for people to unite and contribute to the relief efforts.
According to Forbes Middle East, Yusuff Ali M.A was ranked no.1 in their rich-list: Top 100 Indian Business Owners in The Arab World 2018. When it comes to a crisis, this is not the first time the hypermarket tycoon has been in the news. He is known for his charitable efforts towards humanitarian causes in both the Gulf and back in India.
Speaking of the crisis to Gulf News, Yusuff said, “I just pray and hope that we all come together at these testing times and do whatever we can to bring some solace to the lives of millions of our brothers and sisters”.
