Ronaldo wipes off billions from Coca-Cola’s market value

With one simple move yesterday at the Euro 2020 Championship, Cristiano Ronaldo wiped off billions of dollars from Coca-Cola’s market value.

Now that’s player power!

The Portugal star was hosting a press conference following his team’s 3-0 victory over Hungary in which Ronaldo scored twice.

As he sat down, he noticed two bottles of Coke in front of him.

Ronaldo is a very health-conscious sports star and didn’t want to be associated with the sugary drink. So Ronaldo slid the two bottles of Coca-Cola out of shot and instead presented his own bottle of water.

‘Drink agua’ he said, to the cameras and watching journalists.

And that, amazingly enough, was enough to wipe $4 billion from Coca-Cola’s market value!

As soon as the video went viral, it dropped the soft drink company’s share price by 1.6%.

And the the market value of Coca-Cola went from $242bn to $238bn – a drop of $4bn.

A Euros spokesperson said: “Players are offered water, alongside Coca-Cola and Coca-Cola Zero Sugar, on arrival at our press conferences.”

And if you missed it, this is the incredible third goal that Portugal scored as Ronaldo waltzes around the Hungary keeper. Clearly, Ronaldo doesn’t need Coca-Cola in his life when he can do this!?
