Brand Dubai is collaborating with Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), to beautify the city with street art throughout its infrastructure.
Check the new design on Dubai Metro’s pillar
Peruvian artist Daniel Cortez and Miami-based artist Elio Mercado started the collaboration with The Dubai Metro Murals Project, by painting murals on the pillars of Dubai Metro’s red line, between Emirates Towers and Financial Centre. The murals’ theme intends to inspire creativity and spread happiness, while also reflecting Dubai’s character, vision and future aspirations.
Street artwork in line with Dubai vision
Remember the Dubai Canvas 3D ArtFestival at La Mer last March? Such events and collaborations are in line with His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s vision, “to transform Dubai into an open-air museum that celebrates art, creativity and aesthetic excellence.” Residents can expect more beautification projects covering bridges, tunnels, walking tracks and bus stops over the next three years.
First phase on artworks on Sheikh Zayed Road
Watch out for Sheikh Zayed Road, as the first phase of murals will be on Dubai Metro pillars soon. His Excellency Mattar Al Tayer, Director General of RTA, praised the project, this will “enhance the experience that Dubai offers.” He said, “The Project will not only transform the urban ambience along Sheikh Zayed Road but also bring art closer to the community. In cooperation with Brand Dubai, we are seeking to implement a series of projects like this that will make public spaces more appealing and create a distinct visual identity that fosters a sense of belonging and pride within the community.”
