UAE’s two most significant sporting events, Dubai Rugby Sevens and Abu Dhabi Grand Prix will clash on the same weekend next year, from 29th November to 1st December.
New dates for Abu Dhabi Grand Prix
Formula One’s governing body, World Motor Sports Council (WMSC) approved new dates for its 2019 calendar after a meeting this week. Typically, the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix takes place on the last Sunday of November. Next time, however, the dates are pushed by four days, meaning the concluding race will take place on Thursday, 1st December.
Rugby Sevens to mark 50th edition next year
Meanwhile, Dubai Rugby Sevens, the longest standing sporting event in the Middle East, has for long taken place on the weekend before National Day. Sports fans will be pressured to choose between the two major sporting events. Plus, the next edition will be a historic one, celebrating 50 years since its inception.
Busy weekend before National Day
UAE will mark its 48th National Day on 2nd December, happening on a Friday. Residents will be marking the commemoration fresh after Sheikh Hamdan’s Dubai Fitness Challenge, from 26th October to 24th November. As the special occasion approaches, residents can expect a number of celebrations across the country.
