Saudi Arabia on schedule for Jeddah Formula 1 race in 2021

Saudi Arabia is set to join Abu Dhabi and Bahrain by having a Formula 1 race in the Middle East next year.

The street circuit in Jeddah is on the new schedule for 2021. And it would be the penultimate event on the year’s racing schedule.

The plan is to race on the Jeddah street circuit for several years. They’ll then move to the purpose-built Qiddiyah track which is due to be completed in 2023.

And the designs for the new Formula 1 race track in Saudi Arabia look incredible! Yes, that is an open rollercoaster crossing the track in several places.

While Saudi has held golf, tennis, boxing and Formula E racing in the country in recent years, Formula 1 would be its biggest sporting event.

Abu Dhabi Grand Prix still going ahead

It’s one of the highlights of the year for many, so we’re delighted to confirm the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix is taking place this year in December.

The Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix 2020 will take place on Sunday, December 13.

And while it will be closed to fans, it’ll still be the season-closing race meaning there’s a lot to race for. Although perhaps not up front where Lewis Hamilton looks on course to break the record books again!

His win in Spain gave him 156 podium finishes, beating the previous record held by Schumacher. And he’s just three wins from Schumacher’s all-time record of wins.
