Sheikh Mohammed has announced a new law amendment which will give UAE citizenship to non-Emiratis.
HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, announced the new law changes via his Twitter page on Saturday.
Under the new law, the UAE will be able to grant citizenship to a wide range of people including investors, scientists, doctors, engineers, artists, authors, professionals and those with special skills.
And according to Sheikh Mohammed, it’s been done to “attract talents that contribute to our development journey.”
“The UAE Cabinet, local Emiri courts and executive councils will nominate those eligible for the citizenship under clear criteria set for each category. The law allows receivers of the UAE passport to keep their existing citizenship,” HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum said.
