Momentum is on a high for Sheikh Mohammed’s private horse-racing stable Godolphin as their horse, Blue Point aced a prestigious race recently in the UK.
Blue Point won the Royal Ascot race
Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan’s horse Battaash led most of the 1000 meters-long race until the last 100 meters when Blue Point took over and won the race by 1 3/4th lengths. Prior to the Royal Ascot race, the Shamardal Colt was withdrawn from the Al Quoz Sprint during the Dubai World Cup due to blood in his nostrils and had an unsuccessful run at the Champions and Charter Cup in Hong Kong.
Royal Ascot was Godolphin’s second victory in two weeks
Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum was in all smiles at the recent Epsom Derby when his horse, Masar won the first position, winning 1 ½ lengths away from Sheikh Hamdan’s horse, Dee Ex Bee. Masar was trained by Charlie Appleby and William Buick was the jockey, the same duo behind the success of Blue Point.
Royal Ascot race was attended by UAE and UK royals
UAE royals marked their presence at the famous horse race as it was attended by Sheikh Mohammed with Her Highness Princess Haya along with Sheikh Zayed bin Mohammed, Sheikha Al Jalila Bint Mohammed and Sheikh Hamdan. Whereas, Her Majesty The Queen Elizabeth ll, Sophie, Countess of Wessex, Prince of Wales and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall were among the UK royals at the race. The newlywed royal couple, Prince Harry and Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, too made an appearance.
