Six men sustained injuries while parasailing after a rope attached to their parachutes snapped. They are currently undergoing treatment at a hospital in Fujairah.
Parachute mishap injures six men in Fujairah
The six men, identified as Asians, headed for Khor Fakkan, Fujairah to go parasailing. Their parachutes were attached to a boat until strong winds caused a rope to snap and the men plunged to the ground, sustaining multiple injuries.
Victims receiving treatment
Some fell on a farm while one plummeted into a road next to a mall. Sharjah Police say they were alerted of the accident around 2 pm and immediately sent ambulances to the scene. The victims are now recovering at the Khor Fakkan hospital.
Tourism companies warned
Sharjah Police took to Instagram to share details about the incident, warning tourism companies in the emirate and to keep an eye on weather conditions before letting people enjoy adventure sports.
“Sharjah Police are urging tourism companies to check the weather conditions before allowing hikers to use parachutes because of the risk to their lives.”
Rains expected in the UAE till Monday
The UAE’s National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) says the UAE is expected to receive rains and gusty winds through the country till Monday. Temperatures may vary from 15°c to 32°c over the next four days.
