Real life is imitating Hollywood as Captain Kirk from the Star Trek series is going into space for real thanks to Jeff Bezos.
US tech billionaire and Amazon owner Jeff Bezoz is taking Captain Kirk AKA William Shatner into space on October 12 on board his Blue Origin space company.
“I’ve heard about space for a long time now. I’m taking the opportunity to see it for myself. What a miracle,” Shatner said in a statement.

And at the age of 90, Shatner will become the oldest person to have flown into space.
Technically, Shatner will only be in space for around 10 minutes. The flight heads to the Karman Line which is around 60 miles above Earth, and commonly regarded as the final frontier into space.
Shatner has previously turned down a trip into space as he has a fear of flying.
Now it seems he’s boldly going where no other 90 year old man has gone before!
