Star Wars Has Confirmed The Comeback Of A Star From The Original Series

Pop culture revolutionary film series Star Wars’ eleventh film is releasing by the end of 2019 and after 35 years, a famous character from the original series is making a comeback.

Lando is back!

Billy Dee Williams has been confirmed to make a comeback as Lando Calrissian into the Star Wars universe after starring in the fifth episode ‘The Empire Strikes Back’ in 1980 and in the sixth episode ‘Return Of The Jedi’ in 1983. Quick recap; Lando was one of Han Solo’s pals who gave him the Millennium Falcon spaceship after losing a bet. He worked with the Rebel Alliance since Darth Vader wanted to catch Han Solo, Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia and used Lando to get them. However, after the events in the end of ‘The Empire Strikes Back’, Lando switched sides to help the trio get away from Darth Vader.

Production is expected to begin this month

Director JJ Abrams confirmed the script is ready and filming begins this month. In an interview on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, Abrams said “We have a script, which is a big deal for me. It starts shooting end of July. Sometimes having the script in advance is something I haven’t always been lucky enough to have.. But I’m writing this with Chris Terrio, who’s a genius, and I’m having a great time.”

Donald Glover reprised Lando in ‘Solo’

Besides Billy Williams, Donald Glover(aka Childish Gambino) played Lando in the Star Wars’ spin-off film ‘Solo’ released in May, based on Han Solo’s character in the Star Wars universe. The film, however, failed to succeed in the box office compared to earnings of recent films like ‘The Last Jedi’ and ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’, earning USD 104 million, according to box office data website, Box Office Mojo.

Billy Williams will be the only actor from the original series to star

Harrison Ford was the first star to back out from the series and in fact, ‘The Empire Strikes Back’ was supposed to be his final film which was why it ended with him being frozen. However, he agreed to star in the third and then-final sequel ‘Return of the Jedi.’ He made his final appearance in ‘The Force Awakens’ where Kylo Ren killed him. Plus, Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia died in ‘The Last Jedi’, embarking on a new era in the universe with Finn(Josh Boyega) and Rey(Daisy Ridley).

Obi Wan return rumours aren’t true

Beware Star Wars fans, the rumours about Ewan McGregor reprising his role of Obi Wan Kenobi aren’t true. Over the years, there were fake news about the Star Wars franchise either planning a spin-off film or having the Jedi Knight reprise the role. However, the franchise hasn’t made confirmed anything about his role.
