In the words of John Snow, ‘Winter is coming’ as yesterday was officially the final day of summer in Dubai.
According to star-watchers at the Arab Union for Astronomy and Space Science, Monday, September 21 was the last official day of summer in Dubai. Which means the first day of Autumn starts at precisely 5.31 pm today. Woohoo!
See, just saying it out loud makes it feel cooler already, right?
The sun was directly over the equator yesterday and today it marks its slow journey into the southern hemisphere. So the days will start to get shorter, the sun will become less intense and the temperatures will start to go down.
And somewhere in the middle of it in mid-November, we’ll reach peak Dubai weather. Hot enough to sunbathe at the beach but cool enough to eat and drink outdoors in the evening. Bliss.
While the start of the year was marked by a deluge of wet weather, the summer has been a predictable hot mess. Although you’ll be pleased to know there are actually places hotter than Dubai in the world. Not many, but there are some.
Now we just need to make it through the hot and humid end of September and start of October before the good times arrive and we’ll all be back to our Instagram best.
