The incredible Terra Pavilion opens this week, powered by solar power and recycled water

The stunning Terra Pavilion opens this week ahead of Expo 2020 Dubai later this year and it looks incredible.

The Terra Pavilion is the sustainability pavilion and will be powered by solar energy and recycled water. So while it might have cost $272 million USD to build, it will be powered for free as it will produce as much electricity as it uses.

The pavilion opens to visitors from January 22 until April 10 with tickets AED25.

You’ll need to book your tickets in advance from here as there will be limited capacity. Masks are mandatory and you’ll need to maintain social distancing and have your temperature checked.

Real life solutions to real world problems

The Terra Pavilion poses a lot of questions and answers on sustainability and the future of our planet.

The pavilion looks at the earth’s green roots, takes a deep dive into our oceans and also looks at the dangers facing our planet.

All big themes which will hopefully influence decision-makers across the world and help fight climate change.

And the pavilion is leading the way. It’s has 1,055 solar panels on its roof which generate 4GWh of alternative energy per year. Which is enough to charge more than 900,000 mobile phones.

And they plan to use a series of innovative irrigation techniques, including a greywater recycling system, to reduce water use in the landscape by 75 per cent.
