There could be big news coming our way as reports have come in that the UAE could move to a Saturday and Sunday weekend in line with a lot of the rest of the world.
Currently the UAE runs on a Friday and Saturday weekend, with the first day back at work on Sundays.
But the weekends have changed once before in 2006 when they switched to the current Friday and Saturday weekend.
And several prominent figures on Twitter have said that the weekends are set to change.
‘Goodbye Thursday forever! Change is coming soon’ tweeted @hmushbarbek who was previously a high-up employee at Emirates NBD.

And his Tweet was backed up by Dr Habib Al Mulla, a lawyer and writer from the UAE.
He wrote that we could get a half day on Friday.
‘The possibility that the work will be on Friday from home and only half a day, and therefore the two good deeds will be combined’

The news that the UAE was thinking of moving to a Saturday/Sunday weekend first arose in May. And the UAE authorities denied it would happen.
But with the latest Tweets coming from well-placed high-profile Emiratis, could there be some official news coming soon?
