UAE announces AED1.5 billion package to help economy bounce back

The UAE Government has pledged AED1.5 billion package to help the UAE economy bounce back following the Coronavirus pandemic.

It’s the third time the UAE Government has stepped in to help the economy with this package bringing the total support above AED6 billion.

Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council, announced the package via Twitter.

The package is mainly aimed at companies and industry in the UAE.

Hotels and restaurants will get 50% of their municipality fee returned. And they’ll also be given half of the Tourism Dirham fee until the end of the year.

Schools and the construction industry have also been given economic boosts as the UAE looks to bounce back following the Covid-19 pandemic.

New travel rules

One sector that’s vital to the UAE bouncing back is tourism.

The UAE has updated the rules on travel in and out of the emirate. Including who needs a Covid-19 test and what you need to do before you book a flight.
