UAE announces new updates for Visas and Emirates IDs

The UAE authorities has made an update to visas and Emirates IDs in the region.

The UAE had previously said that all expired visas and Emirates IDs would be automatically renewed until December 31 due to the Coronavirus pandemic. At the time, it made a lot of sense with people and saved a lot of headaches.

But that decision in March has now been cancelled. And all expired visas and Emirates IDs must be renewed over the next few weeks.

Fees to start again from July 12

The Federal Authority of Citizenship and Identity (ICA) has announced that all standard renewal fees for visas and Emirates ID will start again from July 12 onwards.

And Emirati, GCC citizen or UAE residents who have been stuck overseas during the pandemic will get one month to renew their paperwork after they re-enter the country.

And with fines up to AED25 a day, you don’t want to be caught out! Check out the table below to find out when your application is due if you need to renew.

The UAE also recently updated the rules for traveling in and out of the UAE.

Dubai residents need to apply to Dubai’s immigration service, the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA), for permission to leave and return to the country.
