Some very excellent news as the UAE has approved the roll-out of China’s Sinopharm vaccine after a very successful trial this summer.
The vaccine was granted emergency use in the UAE in September and given to frontline workers and even Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai.
And the vaccine has now been officially approved for use across the UAE.
The vaccine is on offer for volunteers at Abu Dhabi health cares and Seha clinics. Full details of the nation-wide roll-out are still to be announced.
The vaccine was created by research group Beijing Institute of Biological Products and Sinopharm who are one of China’s biggest drugmakers. The vaccine was tested on 31,000 people this summer. And it’s had impressive results with 86% efficacy.
The Ministry of Health and Prevention on Wednesday called it a “major step towards combating the global pandemic”.
And, unlike other vaccines that need to be stored at super-low temperatures, the Sinopharm vaccine is easy to transport and keep.
