UAE astronomer predicts Ramadan and Eid dates for 2021

A UAE astronomer has predicted the dates for Ramadan and Eid-al Fitr for 2021 based on astronomical calculations.

Ebrahim Al Jarwan heads up the Sharjah Planetarium and is a leading member of the Arab Union for Astronomy and Space Sciences.

And he predicts that Ramadan will fall on Tuesday April 13.

Al Jarwan told the Gulf News “We will be able to be see the crescent moon the next day, although with some difficulty, on the evening of April 13, which signifies the start of Ramadan 2021.”

Eid-al Fitr is then expected to fall on Tuesday May 11 but it could be as late as Thursday May 13.

Five-day weekend coming

We don’t have long to wait until our next public holiday, however.

Our five-day weekend falls from Tuesday, December 1 until Sunday, December 5.

Tuesday, December 1 is Commemoration Day which pays tribute to the men and women who have sacrificed their lives to defend the UAE.

December 2 and 3 are part of the UAE National Day celebrations. The 49th National Day celebrations are to mark the day all seven Emirates came together as the UAE. And if you’ve been here before, you’ll know it’s a big celebration, with fireworks, parades and events.
