Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and UAE Minister of Finance and Industry has sadly passed away.
The news was shared by his brother, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai, vis his Twitter account.
A mourning period of ten days has been announced in Dubai.
Flags will fly at half-mast across Dubai and work will be suspended in government departments and institutions for three days, starting on Thursday.

Sheikh Hamdan was the second son of the late ruler Sheikh Rashid Bin Saeed Al Maktoum and was born on Christmas Day, 1945.
He was appointed Deputy Ruler of Dubai at the start of 1995. He was also responsible for funding scholarships for students from around the world at Al Maktoum Institute.
Sheikh Hamdan was in his seventies and had been unwell for some months, with Sheikh Mohammed tweeting prayers and well-wishes for his brother earlier this month.
