UAE Innovation Month launches in February searching for the best life-changing ideas to help the UAE in the next 50 years. Specifically, they want to tackle carbon emissions, obesity, plastic use and road accidents.
Competitions will be held across the country this month, with events in each emirate.
Plus, as well as getting to save all mankind, your idea will also be rewarded with ‘generous prizes.’ Time to put your thinking caps on, Dubailad readers!
The 50-year challenge
UAE Innovation Month is part of the country’s attempt to plan ahead for the next 50 years.
Everyone is welcome to submit their ideas according to Shatha Al Hashmi, director of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Centre for Government Innovation.
“We invite everyone, from all backgrounds and age groups, to submit their innovative and practical solutions to contribute to achieving the Four Zero Objectives by 2071. These include zero carbon emission, zero obesity, zero plastic use and zero road deaths,” said Al Hashmi.
The competitions will be held in Abu Dhabi from February 1-7 and Sharjah/Ajman/Umm Al Quwain from February 8-14. The show will then move to Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah from February 15-21 and finally to Dubai from February 22-29.
How to apply
‘The 50 Year Challenge’ is open to all UAE nationals and residents of all ages. A panel of experts will review all proposals, with winners presenting their project for five minutes in front of an expert panel.
