UAE reports pandemic peak with more than 1,000 Covid-19 daily cases

The UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention reported there were 1,007 new cases of Covid-19 reported on Saturday, September 12, the highest figures recorded since the pandemic started.

It’s the first time that the infection rate has passed the 1,000 mark in the UAE since the pandemic started.

As well as 1,007 new cases, there were 522 recoveries and one reported death.

The previous peak of 994 cases was recorded on May 22, over 100 days ago.

According to Dr Farida Al Hosani, a spokeswoman for the UAE health sector, there has been a five-fold increase in infection rates since August 10. And they said that ‘88% of the cases’ were due to gatherings and people breaking quarantine protocol.
