Yesterday, the UAE tripled the fine to Dhs 3,000 for motorists not giving way to emergency vehicles, as well as a 30-day confiscation of the vehicle and six black points. 358 drivers fined for not giving way to emergency vehicles in 2018
Major-General Mohammad Saif Al Zafein, Head of the Federal Traffic Council, said, “Some reckless drivers don’t understand the importance of quick response to emergency situations. As many as 358 drivers were fined last year for not giving way to emergency vehicles. That means 358 emergency cases were delayed.”
Motorists warned not to slow down when near accident sites
With the federal fine announced, the UAE also warns drivers not to slow down when near an accident site, as it delays traffic. Drivers are also warned not to follow emergency cars during traffic and not to use the hard shoulder.
