It’s official – UFC Fight Island is going to be held in Abu Dhabi starting from July 11 and featuring some of the sport’s biggest talents.
Fight Island will take place on Yas Island and feature four events including UFC251, a Pay Per View event on July 11. The other bouts are scheduled for Wednesday, July 15, Saturday, July 18 and the following Saturday, July 25. The full line ups for each event will be released soon.
The UFC signed a five-year deal with Abu Dhabi last year and the capital has been a big hit after hosting UFC 242 last September.
UFC President Dana White said: “We came up with the idea of having fights on ‘Fight Island’ because we needed a destination to hold international events during the global pandemic. Abu Dhabi has been an amazing location to hold fights over the past 10 years and it is the perfect place for these events. The infrastructure we are building will be such a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for the fighters that’s never been done before – from the arena, the private training facility and the Octagon on the island – it’s going to be an experience that none of us will ever forget. I can’t wait to deliver amazing fights from Yas island”.
Oh, and Conor McGregor retires. Again
If we had a million dollars for every time McGregor decided to retire, we’d have $3 million.
But this time, it’s final. Apparently. Anyone actually believe him?
