UK PRESS CAUGHT WITH THEIR PANTS DOWN: MICHELANGELO’S DAVID NOT CENSORED AT EXPO 2020

The Italian Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai has cleared up confusion after several media outlets wrote that Michelangelo’s famous David statue had been censored.

Well, it hasn’t. Which is a bit of a balls up on the media’s part.

The 17-foot 3D replica of David is standing proud at the Italian pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai. Famously, David is a 100% naked statue. Like naked as the day you were born naked. And the one in Dubai is a faithful replica.

That didn’t stop the Italian and UK press including the Daily Mail from making things up willy-nilly as they wrote that ‘David’s nether regions were reportedly covered up to spare the blushes of some conservative Emiratis and VIPs.’

But Italy Pavilion’s Artistic Director Davide Rampello fully countered those claims, denying that any form of censorship has ever been imposed.

The current viewing platform at the Italian Pavilion allows ‘visitors to see the David at eye level.’

That, Rampello explained, is a totally different and more introspective perspective than the one tourists in Florence are used to enjoying when visiting the original statue at the Galleria dell’Accademia museum.

If you do want a look at David in his full glory, a ground floor visit will do the trick.

So, in summary, as Donald Trump might have once said, this is ‘fake news.’
