Vaccines reduce hospital admissions by up to 94% new study finds

The first study on Covid-19 vaccines has found they can reduce the rate of hospital admissions by up to 94%.

Scientists in Scotland found the Pfizer jabs reduced hospital admission by 85% while the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine reduced admissions by 94%.

Lead researcher of the study, Professor Aziz Sheikh, director of the University of Edinburgh’s Usher Institute, said: “These results are very encouraging and have given us great reasons to be optimistic for the future. We now have national evidence – across an entire country – that vaccination provides protection against Covid-19 hospitalisations.”

The UAE has approved the use of both those vaccines as well as Sputnik V and the Sinopharm vaccine.

The latest UAE figures show 2,105 new cases in the UAE with 3,355 recoveries.

The UAE has so far vaccinated over 5 million people in the country, making it one of the most succesful programs in the world. They’ve also conducted nearly 30 million tests.

The UAE’s Ministry of Health and Prevention also Tweeted a series of infographics detailing how each of the UAE’s approved vaccines works.
