With football transfers rising season-on-season, who’s the world’s most valuable football player? Ronaldo? Neymar? Salah?
Kylian Mbappé leads from the front
According to research from data scientists, French star Kylian Mbappé is the most valuable football player in the world.
The Paris St-Germain and France star is reportedly worth around 265.2 million Euros if he were to be sold in the current transfer window.
The 21-year-old striker burst onto the world scene as a 15-year-old for Monaco, immediately making an impression with his speed and skill.
Fast-forward six years and the young Frenchman is the highest valued football player in the world according to the latest research from industry experts at CIES Football Observatory.
And this neat video pulling together his first 100 career goals perfectly highlights why he’s so highly regarded.
Premier League stars next in the list
It’s over to the Premier League in England to find the next two most valuable players in the world.
Manchester City talisman and England striker Raheem Sterling isn’t priced far behind Kylian. The 25-year-old ex-Liverpool star is valued at an eye-watering 221 million Euros. Which we’d put down to his world-class form and his relatively young age.
Liverpool and Egypt striker Mohammad Salah completes the top three, with a proposed market value of 175 million Euros.
Good news for Liverpool
Amazingly, the statisticians discovered that over 160 current players from the main five leagues in Europe would command transfer fees of more than 50 million Euros.
As you’d expect, most of the biggest transfer fees belonged to strikers. There was good news for Liverpool, with their team contributing the highest-valued goalkeeper (Alisson Becker, 87 million), defender (Virgin Van Dijk, 93 million) and full back (Trent Alexander-Arnold 110 million). 110 million almost feels like a bargain for a footballer with this speed and intelligence!
But recent Dubai visitor Ronaldo was way down the list of the world’s most valuable football player. He was valued at 80 million Euros, but as he’s just been snapped wearing the world’s most expensive Rolex, we think he’ll be happy with that deal.
