Yas Marina Circuit will mark FIA World Rallycross Championship’s UAE debut next April, part of the packed line up of events coming up in 2019.
World RX marking UAE debut this April
FIA World Rallycross Championship will begin its 2019 calendar at Abu Dhabi from 5th-6th April 2019, promising a weekend of high-energy racing action. Hopes are the championship will have a festival-style event featuring drift events, international DJ headliners and gaming., similar to Speedmachine Festival in Austin.
TRD 86 Cup returns for fifth edition
Yas Marina Circuit’s annual TRD 86 Cup will take place throughout February and March. The championship is giving race car drivers and enthusiasts an opportunity to enjoy the thrill of racing on an F1 track at an affordable price, with race hire packages starting from Dhs15,600 new this season. Last season witnessed an intense track battle among racers Saif Al Ameri and Ahmad Al Moosa. Al Ameri was crowned the champion. Registrations are open.
“Grassroot” for aspiring drivers at an affordable rate
Speaking to DubaiLAD, Mohammed Ben Sulayem, President of the Automobile & Touring Club UAE believes TRD 86 Cup is the ideal platform for those aspiring to become racers, at an affordable cost. He said “It’s the grassroots. It’s affordable. It’s there to entertain and it’s there for competition, but ‘affordable’ is the word to it. That’s what we want actually. We don’t want something to come and go and that is the wrong thing. We want something to come and stay.”
Gulf 12 Hours back this December
Credited as the region’s most glamorous endurance racing event, Gulf 12 Hours will take place on Saturday, 15th December. Racegoers will witness a day of high-octane racing by luxurious race cars, such as Porsche Cayman ClubSport, Ferrari 458 GT3, Lamborghini SuperTroFeo, Aston Martin Vantage FT4 and so on.
