Thanks to the new ‘Buy With Your Time’ campaign, you can now get discounts at IKEA based on how far you’ve travelled in Dubai. The further you’ve come to the store, the bigger the discounts.
Which is great news for us, as going to IKEA can be a painful and stressful experience at the best of times!
The Dubai IKEA branches are the first in the world to trail the new scheme effectively proving time is money.
All the prices in-store have been changed into ‘time currency’ prices. IKEA are using Google Maps Timeline to detail how many minutes customers spend on their journeys to IKEA. Prices are then calculated using the average Dubai salary.
It means that customers are able to buy products with all the time they have spent travelling to IKEA.
Free hot dog!
Shoppers travelling for 49 minutes could net a free Lack coffee table. And if you’ve spent almost two hours on your furniture trip, you would get the equivalent of a Billy bookcase. Even a five minute trip is good for a veggie hotdog.
“Before the birth of this campaign, we realised two things. Time is precious today. And many loyal IKEA customers spend a significant chunk of it visiting our locations, which are sometimes away from the city centre. We think it’s only right to reward our customers’ efforts by repaying them for the time spent reaching us. It’s our way of helping the Dubai community make the most of every minute,” IKEA said in a statement.
Sadly, there’s no mention of money off for getting lost in IKEA’s endless routes and mazes. Although we can confirm the double bed section is the best place to get locked in for the night.
And if you do need a little help getting around IKEA, this fun video should help!
