Now that we’ve got your attention with that headline, we can confirm it’s 100% true – you can now race electric karts on the Dubai Mall Zabeel roof. Pretty. Cool.
Picture the scene: it’s sunset, the Burj Khalifa twinkles in the background and the chequered flag drops. Move over Hamilton, your new challenger from the Middle East is on their way!
EKart Zabeel launched last year and they’ve now opened their outdoor track for winter. And as it’s electrically-powered, there are no emissions and it’s more environmentally friendly.
The electric kart action all takes place on the 9th floor of the Dubai Mall Zabeel rooftop which is the new extension built across the walkway.
Sessions start from October 8 and run from 3 pm-10 pm during the week and 2 pm until midnight at weekends.
Tickets start from AED75 and riders must be 14 years and older.
In other electric car news, you can now get free parking for e-cars in Dubai.
The Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) confirmed that electric cars will get free parking for two years.
The only catch – apart from having an electric car, of course – is that the electric car must be registered in Dubai. Electric cars from other emirates will still have to pay for parking.
There are currently 1,803 electric cars registered in Dubai.
