You can now channel your inner Uma Thurman and Tarantino as Gonpachi, the iconic Japanese restaurant at the heart of Kill Bill, has now opened in Dubai.
Kill Bill was Quentin Tarantino’s amazing 2003 martial arts film starring Uma Thurman as a sword-wielding assassin. Super stylish and with a killer soundtrack, the film also featured this stunning shot which was filmed in Gonpachi, one of Tokyo’s most famous restaurants.
And Gonpachi is now officially open in Dubai at Al Habtoor City, bringing with it the best sushi, ramen and Wagyu steaks this side of Tokyo.
The food is overseen by Chef Joe, a Japanese expert with nearly 20 years of experience in Gonpachi restaurants in Japan and LA. He’s helped grow the brand into a global force with 13 branches and imports all the best ingredients direct from Japan.
The stunning restaurant features a lot of the same design as the Kill Bill original including wood and bamboo furniture and a stunning terrace and Japanese Garden.
And the smell from the open kitchen which serves up a traditional Izakaya style dining experience is incredible. We’re honestly drooling thinking of the Yakitori skewered, Wagyu steaks and their signature Gindara, a miso-marinated black cod left to stew for 72 delicious hours.
It’s the ideal brunch and lunch spot and with one of the best Sake and wine selections in Dubai, Gonpachi is also the perfect place for a drink.
