Instead of scrapping their newly retired aircraft, Emirates are going to upcycle and recycle as much of their planes as possible – including their iconic A380 bar.
Most planes are sent for scrapping and lie rusting when they’re retired.
But Emirates has teamed up with UAE-based Falcon Aircraft Recycling to re-use as much of the plane as possible.
And that means Emirates are selling their A380 onboard bar – how cool would this look in your garden or villa?
They’re also turning other cabin features into bespoke furniture.
Anyone else really want a First Class bed? Or maybe the pilot’s chair for your new at-home office?
They’re also turning a lot of the plane into aviation memorabilia which will be on sale soon.
So not only could you own a piece of aeroplane history, you’d also be helping reduce landfill waste by giving parts of a decommissioned aircraft a new home.
Plus, some of the profits will go towards the Emirates Airline Foundation, their charity which helps disadvantaged children around the world.
Sir Tim Clark, President Emirates airline said: “We are delighted to partner with Falcon Aircraft Recycling on this first-of-its-kind project. That all repurposing activity will be fully executed in the UAE also speaks to the strong aviation eco-system and capabilities that the nation has built up in its short history. Through this initiative, our customers and fans can take home a piece of aviation history while saving valuable materials from landfill and contributing to a charitable cause through the Emirates Airline Foundation. It’s an elegant and fitting retirement solution for this iconic aircraft and our flagship.”
