You’ll soon be able to go on holiday to a Saudi Oil Rig

Yes, that headline is correct – Saudi Arabia is turning an old oil rig into a brand new hotel hot spot with a water park, several hotels, water sports and more.

The country is increasingly looking to follow in Dubai’s footsteps and turn to tourism as its leading economy.

And The Rig could be a big part of that.

The huge oil rig covers 150,000 square meters and is being launched by Saudi’s Public Investment Fund (PIF). The huge space will include several hotels, some incredible water sports and lots of ‘adventure.’

In total, there will be three hotels with 800 rooms. And over a dozen restaurants on-site including an underwater restaurant.

And the action won’t just be limited to water sports. They’re planning on turning the Saudi oil rig into an ‘extreme park’ with bungee jumping and base jumping on offer.

Plus, there’s plenty of action to be had just getting there.

The options include a ferry, yacht or helicopter, which will fly direct to the oil rig’s very own helipad.
