Umm Al Quwain resident Shareefah Al Hosani makes her AED3,000 monthly salary go a long way as she cooks over 100 Iftar meals to help the needy.

The amazing 56-year-old UAE resident has been preparing her huge Iftar feasts for the last eight years. And using just an old stove, she prepares over 100 Iftar meals for workers and needy families in the area.

Working alongside her daughter and two granddaughters, Shareefah fills empty foil containers with a rice and chicken dish before adding a bottle of water and some dates to complete the meal.

“I do it simply out of love. I love giving and sharing with other people,” she told the Khaleej Times. “I keep some part of my money throughout the year, so that when Ramadan comes along, I would have enough savings to fund the meals,” she said.

As well as being an Iftar cook, Shareefah is a bus supervisor. And she’s raising the daughters of her son who sadly died in a traffic accident four years ago.

“I’m also doing this charity on behalf of my late son,” she said.

“I’m happy that I get to do this with my family. This is also a way to limit the children’s use of gadgets and their TV time. Instead, they get to embrace and practise the virtues of the holy month,” Al Hosani said.

What an amazing inspiration!
